Westenhanger Castle - 2004

Westenhanger Castle was started in the 12thC and was altered several times over the following centuries. Through marriage the estate passed into the de Criol family. In 1343 Sir John de Criol was granted permission to crenellate the Castle. In 1460 Sir Thomas Criol or Keriel was slain at the second battle of St. Albans whilst fighting for the house of York.
